3 Ways to Quickly Fix Word Formatting Issues

The Format of a Dissertation

  • Two copies of your word-processed dissertation must be handed in. They do not need to be formally bound, but each copy should be stapled together, and have a standard coversheet on the front. Dissertation Format
  • The dissertation should be no longer than 60 pages (but this limit does not include any appendices or references as described below, or the title and contents pages, etc.). This is a hard upper limit.
  • Left margin of 37mm (to allow for copies to be stapled, or possibly bound), right margin of 25mm;
  • Single line spacing (or alternatively line spacing of 1.1 or 1.2);
  • Font size not less than 11pt and not greater than 12pt (chapter and section headings may be larger);
  • Times Roman or Computer Modern font families;
  • All pages should be numbered, including the appendices;
  • Each page should have a relevant header, centered at the top of the page (for example, "Chapter 3. Requirements and Analysis"). Dissertation Format

A Special Note about Tables

Our consumers often statement that their tables require a lot of work. Some of the most ordinary matters are spacing, arrangement, borders, font styles, margins, and notes. We will willingly take care of all of these and any other issues for you, other than in arrange to do so we ask you to send your tables in cellular dissertation format. This means moreover inserting a table in the word dispensation program (in Word, go to the Table menu and choose Insert) or copying a table from a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel or Open Office Calc and pasting it into your document. If you send the table in another format, such as a scanned image, we won't be able to format it. If you have any questions about how to do this, please let us know and we'll be happy to walk you through this via e-mail or phone.

Common Problems with Editorial Format Style

APA editorial style requires particular usage for punctuation, hyphenation, capitalization, word choice, verb tenses, and a number of other issues. In addition to our standard formatting, we also scan through the document to check for some common errors in punctuation usage, but to catch all of the in-text issues just mentioned; we would have to proofread your entire document. How It Works
